Mrs. McCarthy is a native of New York. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in English Education (7-12) from Siena College where she was also the captain of her division one field hockey team. She obtained her Masters in English Education (5-12) and Special Education (5-12) from Manhattanville College. Mrs. McCarthy taught in New York for one year and coached field hockey as a head varsity coach for three years prior to arriving in Kentucky. In Louisville, she taught 6th grade Language Arts and Literature for one year, also winning a field hockey state championship. She then taught 7th grade Language Arts for two years at Richmond Hill Middle School in Richmond Hill, Georgia. She taught ninth grade pre-AP literature and composition at Columbus High School in Columbus, GA and is now teaching her second year at Richview. Mrs. McCarthy is married to Captain McCarthy, a graduate of the United States Military Academy. She also has two German Short-haired Pointers, Ruger and Jack!

  • Veteran essay due September 30th!
  • Soldiers from Headquarters and Headquarters Company from the 1-26 IN BN at Fort Campbell will visit our class on Tuesday, September 10th, to help students prepare to write their Veteran essays. 
  • We will take our Module A Unit 1 exam on Friday, September 6th. Be sure to study the Module A Unit 1 Assessment Review.
  • The module a unit 1 informational essay will be due at the end of class Tuesday, August 27th.
  • On Friday, August 23rd, students will need earbuds in class to be able to complete the Fast Bridge Universal Screener.
  • Quiz Friday, August 16th on main idea, supporting details and objective summary!
  • Open House will be this Thursday, August 15th, from 5:00- 7:00 p.m.
  • Signed forms (the parent questionnaire and the student code of conduct) as well as the baggie assignment, are due Friday, August 16th.
